The logo was designed by Mari Mero from the Communication and Public Affairs Services of the University of Turku. The logo can be used freely on a small scale. The secretariat should be consulted before using the logo for commercial or large-scale purposes or for permission to edit it.

Jubilee Year Events in Finland

In addition to the great number of events that will be organised in Finland during the Jubilee Year of 2007, there will be celebrations in Russia, Estonia, Sweden and Germany, among other countries. The organisation committee of the Jubilee Year and others involved have planned well over one hundred events, and the list is constantly growing. Here are a few of them:

Opening event

The opening of the Jubilee Year in Pernaja on January 6, 2007.

Agricola Day, April 9, 2007.

The main national celebration and a jubilee church service (a mass dating from Agricola?s time) will be held in Turku, where Agricola served as a bishop. In addition, local festivities will be organised in different parts of Finland.

Week of festivities April 8 ? April 15

A large number of events will take place in Turku, Helsinki, and around Agricola?s birthplace, Pernaja, and elsewhere during the week of festivities.

Other major Jubilee Year events in Finland

- National Reading Week in March
- A series of Early Music concerts in the National Museum of Finland in April
- The annual Church Days in Turku May 24 ? May 27
- Local mobile libraries throughout Finland will feature special Agricola collections
- Numerous books, exhibitions, seminars, lecture series, etc.

International events

Agricola Jubilee Year events will be arranged in Russia, Germany, Estonia, Sweden and elsewhere. See the list below for a few of the scheduled international events. In addition, there will be exhibitions, seminars, receptions and events in Finnish embassies, the Finnish Seamen?s Missions and in other congregations, and hopefully in Finland Societies and in friendship societies around the world, as well.

Russia

- Kuolemajärvi/Kyrönniemi: Commemoration at the Agricola Memorial and in the Agricola Cottage Museum in June 2007.
- Vyborg: Re-erection and unveiling of the Agricola Statue. Inauguration of a Tradition Room in the Vyborg Castle and an Agricola exhibition. Seminars.
- Moscow: Seminar arranged with the Russian Diplomatic Academy.
- St Petersburg: Seminars, play, exhibition, events arranged by the Evangelical Lutheran congregation.
- Friendship school and other cooperative projects.

Sweden

- Finnish congregations, The Finland Institute, schools.

Germany

- Berlin and Wittenberg: exhibitions, seminars and cultural events, church projects.

Estonia

- Tallinn and Tartu: exhibitions, seminars, public presentations, Agricola Day celebration.

EU-level projects

- The Ten-year "Use your own language" initiative
